Head skimming is commonly performed after a head gasket failure to remove warping or surface irregularities caused by overheating.

Accurate head skimming ensures a flat mating surface between the cylinder head and engine block, preventing leaks and maintaining combustion pressure.

The diamond tipped cutter skims the head until it is clean and straight across the entire surface.
